Building in the North Shore: what we check

Council: Hornsby Shire Council, Ku-ring-gai Council, Willoughby City Council, North Sydney Council, Lane Cove Council, Hunters Hill Council, City of Parramatta, City of Ryde and Mosman Council
Bush fire: 55 of the 72 suburbs have land mapped as bush fire prone, the largest shares in Mount Kuring-gai, Hornsby Heights and Berowra, and two more at the edges. On those blocks the bush fire attack level (BAL) decides which boards, timbers and roofing can be used, so we check your address before we quote.
Heritage: 35 of the 72 suburbs include a heritage conservation area, among them Artarmon, Beecroft and Cammeray. The rules for building a deck or pergola without approval are stricter there, so we check your address first.
The land: The ground runs from near sea level to about 228 m above sea level, with the Lane Cove River, Berowra Creek and Waitara Creek running through.
