About outdoor shower frames

We build the timber around an outdoor shower.

That is the frame that carries the shower head and tapware, the screen around it and the slatted floor underfoot. The water supply, the mixer and the drainage are done by a licensed plumber.

The frame has to stand up to water every day. That means durable hardwood or composite, stainless steel fixings, timber kept off wet ground, and a floor with gaps so water runs straight through to the drained base below.

Before we price a shower frame, we need to know where the water will come from and where it will go. Talk to your plumber first, or tell us who they are and we will plan the frame around their layout.

Outdoor shower frame options

  1. 01

    Post-mounted shower

A single timber post or panel carrying the shower head and taps. Simple and compact beside a pool.

  2. 02

    Screened shower

Battens on two or three sides for privacy, open at the front or with a gap at the top for airflow.

  3. 03

    Slatted floor

A removable timber or composite grate over a drained base, so water falls through and the base can be cleaned.

  4. 04

    Against a wall

A frame and screen fixed to an existing wall, keeping the wall's waterproofing intact.

Before we price it

What to plan for

  1. Water and drainage

Where the shower can drain to is set by the plumbing rules, so the plumber decides the drain and we build around it.

  2. Timber and fixings

Daily wetting is hard on timber. Hardwood or composite with stainless fixings holds up best.

  3. Near the pool

A shower beside a pool fence can't create a foothold within the fence's clear zone.

  4. Sun and drying

A shower that gets some sun dries out between uses, which is better for the timber than a damp, shaded corner.

  • “I've found my new carpenter! Haz did a fabulous job of doing all new balustrading on my back deck. He was very precise with his fitting and measurements and also went out of his way to help me with 2 other little jobs I needed to do before selling my house. What he did for me was a tremendous help and I'm so grateful. Look no further than Haz. He is the kindest and the best!”

  • “I would recommend Timbaland to my friends, and would try to get them again if work later comes up. We got them to do our backyard deck. And Haz has been professional and easy to deal with from the beginning. He explains the work and his pricing really well. He’s efficient and his quality of work is very commendable. Extremely happy with their work.”

Questions

What customers ask us

Do you do the plumbing?

No. Plumbing and drainage work in NSW has to be done by a licensed plumber. We build the frame, screen and floor, and plan them around the plumber's layout.

What timber is best for an outdoor shower?

A dense hardwood that handles constant wetting, or composite battens that don't need oiling. Every fixing should be stainless steel, and no timber should sit in standing water.

Can an outdoor shower go next to the pool fence?

It can go near it, but the frame, taps and screen mustn't give a child something to climb within the fence's clear zone. We plan the position with that in mind.
