Building a deck in Malabar: what we check

  1. Slope

    Much of Malabar sits on a slope running down to Long Bay and Maroubra Bay. A deck on a falling block needs deeper footings, bracing and often a balustrade, so we look at the fall of the ground before we price it.

  2. Heritage

    Parts of Malabar are in a heritage conservation area, where a deck can need approval that it wouldn't elsewhere. We check your address and tell you before you commit.

  3. Approval

    Many decks in NSW are exempt development when they meet the height, size and setback limits. We tell you at the measure whether yours does; if it doesn't, approval comes from Randwick City Council or a registered certifier.
